“People always said I had a ‘rubber arm,’ and I know that’s kind of a catchy phrase. For whatever reason, my arm always responded when I needed it to.”
With seven 20-win seasons and a Cy Young in 1971, Fergie Jenkins became the sixth member of a hallowed club known as the Black Aces. Jenkins was a power pitcher with extraordinary command, who put a vapor trail on the fastball and had people swinging at illusions with his hard slider. He was the first Canadian ever elected into baseball’s Hall of Fame, and one of the most daunting pitchers to face of all time.
